Areas of Specialization:
Duties:
Representative Qualities and Experience:
Manufacturing and Trucking: Preparation of subdivision and site plans for manufacturing facilities that require special civil engineering to address truck maneuvers, stormwater mitigation, and other environmental engineering issues. Regularly facilitates zoning changes, municipal Site Plan and Subdivision approvals, obtains Health Department and water supplier approvals, and facilitates NYSDEC permit coverage.
Residential Subdivisions: Routinely performs concept planning, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, and provides construction inspection. Engineering duties include hydraulic modeling; preparation of engineering reports; and detailed design of storm/sanitary sewers, water mains, streets, grading, erosion control, and stormwater facilities. Project sizes range from single-family sites to as large as a 350-unit subdivision.
Specialized Waste Disposal: Engineered and obtained permitting for a 3500 gallon per day aerobic private sanitary waste disposal system. Design tasks included specification of the aerobic digestion system, chlorination, details of the raised sand filter bed, and design of the surface discharge to a stream. Surface discharge required numerous meetings with review agencies, construction supervision, final Engineer’s certification, and an individual NYSDEC SPDES permit.
Commercial, Retail and Professional Offices: Routinely develops critical path scenarios for design and development, designs the Subdivision/Site Plans, facilitates zoning change approvals and SEQRA processing.

Stephen Pum - Project Engineer
Education:
Areas of Specialization:
Representative Qualities and Experience:
Site Selection, Screening and SEQRA Studies: Mr. Pum is experienced with data collection as it relates to screening development sites. His knowledge of online government databases and his ability to correlate applicable regulations make him valuable when identifying potential “show-stoppers” that could potentially kill a project.
Highway Work Permits: New Driveways and utility crossings require highway work permits. Mr. Pum has prepared multiple permit applications and detailed drawings for various sites including: The Advantage Federal Credit Union (utility), Geneva Microtel (driveway and utility), Hampton Inn & Suites Henrietta (utility), and Advantech Industries (driveway).
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs): Mr. Pum's ability to assess the natural environment and his knowledge of permit requirements is why he is routinely assigned to projects that require the preparation of SWPPPs. After completing and receiving the necessary multiple permits from NYSDEC, Mr. Pum will then work with contractors out in the field completing SWPPP inspections insuring that the site stays in strict conformance throughout the construction process.
Integrated Use of Engineering Programs: Mr. Pum has extensive use and knowledge in working with a variety of engineering software systems. His extensive proficiency in the latest versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D, EPANET, Adobe Creative Suite Programs, and ESRI-GIS mapping software makes him an integral part of the design team from start to finish.
Hospitality Site Design: Stephen Pum is involved in a number of new facilities which include: Microtel Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell, and Burger King. Mr. Pum works with the client starting with site selection and planning through design and municipal approvals. He has completed Construction Documents for new hotels and restaurants throughout Central and Western New York. His tasks on the projects include full site design, drainage design, hydraulic calculations, estimating, NYSDOT permitting and NYSDEC SWPPP Inspections.
Outside of the Office:
When Stephen is not working, you will find him either at home spending time with his wife and two daughters or out swimming, biking and running preparing for his next Ironman Event.
